Lumberton ISD - 2021-2022 State Accountability Rating Released

Lumberton ISD was rated B with an 86 overall score with no district-level Distinction Designations. The breakdown by campus is as follows: Lumberton High School 86 (B) with a Distinction Designation in Social Studies, Lumberton Middle School 82 (B), Lumberton Intermediate School 75 (C), Lumberton Primary School 86 (B), and Lumberton Early Childhood School 86 (B).

“We are extremely proud of our District staff and students for their tremendous effort and perseverance during the 2021-2022 school year,” said Dr. Tony Tipton, LISD Superintendent.

District administration made the decision to administer all assessments online last year in preparation for the mandatory online requirements during 2022-2023. These assessments were very different and more challenging than others from the past.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Learning Dr. Igor Gusyakov stated that, “This rating is a huge accomplishment! Our District's success starts at the Early Childhood campus and goes all the way to the High School. Campuses build upon each other's work. This is definitely time for a celebration. There are always areas of growth–we will analyze the data in more detail and work on those areas together as a District to ensure our students' continued success!”

Districts are rated in three domains–Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps. In determining the ratings, TEA considers such factors as student achievement on STAAR (grades 3-11), College, Career, and Military Readiness, Graduation Rate, Students' Academic Growth, Relative Performance (comparing to districts and campuses with similar demographics), and Students’ English Language Proficiency.

Each district and campus has an opportunity to earn Distinction Designation. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics. The distinction designation indicators are typically separate from those used to assign accountability ratings. To learn more about the 2022 Accountability System, click here.

“While the state accountability system is an important measure of students' knowledge of our required curriculum, it is only one tool of many that we use to determine the success of our school system. We will continue to work on improving our students' academic achievement going forward,” added Dr. Tony Tipton, Superintendent of LISD.
