Our students and staff are resilient and have experienced many situations affecting their past academic lives such as Hurricanes Rita, Ike, Harvey and Tropical Storm Imelda, and now our students and staff face potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
As of now, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hardin County or nearby Jefferson County. At this time, Lumberton ISD is not closing school; however, measures are being made to ensure our students have minimal exposure from outside our buildings during school hours. Starting Monday, March 16, 2020 all UIL events have been canceled, and the campuses will be restricting the opportunity to eat with your child at lunch, or bring food to the campuses.
Please be aware, this information can change at any time and we ask for your support while implementing additional measures for your child’s protection. We participate in web conferences daily with the Texas Education Agency to ensure we have the latest information to make the best decisions.
As always, please ensure to take preventive measures for spreading the virus:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick. Please keep the school informed if you are sick.
• Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
We ask you to continue communicating with your campus nurse if your child is experiencing illness.
